Who are Oscar & Lance and why are they on this greeting card? Jason, HDP creative director, is an avid collector of those delightfully lurid Hollywood Confidential magazines from the 50’s. One day, he fortuitously came across the classic issue which posited the shocking claim that Liberace was rumored to be *gasp* a homosexual. As if the shrieking headline on the cover wasn’t quite descriptive enough, the forward thinking art director included a small yet handy icon depicting a limp wristed, big-boned Oscar Wilde type standing next to a hip swiveling, cigarette holder using nellyboy we’ve lovingly named Lance. What could be more postmodern than reappropriating and reinventing this hilariously un-PC image into a cheeky and chic greeting card?
